Technology Enhanced Learning: Nearpod
Nearpod is a tool that allows you to create a variety of interactive presentations and display directly on students' mobile devices. When creating a ppt, you can select text, images, audio or video slideshows to various interactive activities.
In lectures or seminars, speakers can control progress through slides, and students can use applications or interact via mobile devices through a web browser. If needed, students can add their own notes during the presentation. Presentations can be controlled via mobile devices (tablets) so that teachers can move around the room during presentations.
The primary job for a teacher in the class is to deliver information, collect feedback and share ideas. Based on these needs, Nearpod can be an excellent tool for both teaching and modeling.
Advantages
In terms of giving information, Nearpod lessons allow teachers to add in a wide variety of content and online resources from website links to YouTube videos or local files. This allows teachers to combine a diverse collection of resources to share with their preservice teachers.
Also, it’s easy for teachers to make their lessons more engaging with Nearpod’s interactive activities. They can raise open-ended discussion questions, send out quizzes and polls, and ask students to collaborate on a question or problem.
Additionally, teachers can use Nearpod to instantly collect formative feedback from their students. By seing out polls, starting collaboration boards, and ask open-ended questions, Nearpod can provide instant formative feedback on how students are doing with the content at hand.
Limitations
Nearpod has some limitations. The free version is limited in space, so the gold version is almost necessary.
Overall, teachers should experience beneficial approaches to technology integration that they can implement in their future classrooms. Nearpod not only offers a way to combine and deliver a variety of types of digital content, but to create interactive and engaging lessons that are perfect for students at any level, even in higher education.
